CARDOSO´S DHARMA

Cardoso is a family name and a tribute to my grandfather with whom we started and who was "Mr Hobby" himself and loved breeding animals. I loved Dobermanns and imagined myself breeding my own, so we were the perfect combination.
Dharma is an eastern word that has many meanings; good morals, rectitude, to set a path in life and follow it according to a life standard previously established.
We apply that in our breeding following the FCI standard that describes one and only Dobermann that is anatomically well built, healthy and with a stable caracter allowing him to work, do sports, shows, be a loving pet and above all, a well behaved citizen of our society.
With this illusion we bred our A litter in 1995 although we have had Dobermanns since 1989. We believe once you have your first Dobermann you will never want to live without one, so we have been breeding quality Dobermanns in Portugal since 1995, we had 12 litters until today and achieved over 35 titles of which 22 are Champion Titles in different European Countries. We have exported Cardoso´s Dharma Dobermanns mainly to European countries like Germany, France, Spain, Servia, although we also have a few Dobermanns in the African and American continent.
Our kennel is registered with the FCI (Fédération Cynologique International), CPC ( Clube Português de Canicultura) and DGAV (Direcção Geral de Alimentação e Veterinária).
Having the FCI Standard as our guide, we have done our best to breed anatomically well built, healthy, stable and balanced Dobermanns well fit for working.
We started out with some of the best Dutch bloodlines of the 80s/90s and have developed over generations a special attention to general Type, Head and Expression basing our choices on solid bloodlines and knowledge acquired through innumerable courses, workshops, seminars, working sessions and experiences with some of the best, in matters and subjects such as Ethology; Dressage; Imprinting Mechanisms; Breeding and Raising a Working Dog; Species Conduct and Behavior Guidelines; Classic Conditioning; Genetic Principals and Breeding Strategies; Schutzhund Training and Working of Protection Dogs; Rearing a working dog; Tracking, Obedience, Defense; The Training Helper; Stress Channeling; Distances and Drives; The Dog Reproductive System; Main pathologies of the Dobermann; Hip Dysplasia Methods and Diagnosis; The Dobermann in Europe; Obedience Agility; Mondioring Training; Great Sires in Europe; just to name a few, we are thankfull for learning with K.Lorenz; E.Trumler; I.Pavlov; S&F Kraayenburg; O.Vogel; R.Casado; H.
